I bought the book If You Want to Write.

And a sketch book.

Now I need to use them.

This time IS different

I haven't been going out of my way to learn something new everyday. Unlike I said I would in my resolution. But I have finished the book this time is different, and it was interesting, but the crux is if its a bubble it will burst, and if you think you have found the perfect way to exploit the system and make a ton of money, it will eventually backfire, and it's gonna suck. We always think its not going to happen because we fixed or shored up the weakness from the last time, and the next time will be a different combination of causes leading to a crisis. I didn't glean much in the way of avoiding these crises, I think if greed runs the marketplace, then it's always going to happen at some point. Reading about interest being equated to coin clipping was a new way to think of it, but since we are a fiat economy (not fixed to a tangible real standard) interest is artificially manipulated to some degree. My socialist heart fears to keep down the man, but it is probably part of the government to avoid a measure of its debt. Which is why I do not understand this platinum coin business. I need to look in the economist to see what they say about this coin business.

I also finished a book called Getting to Yes. I need to listen to that once a month for a year. I might need to get a paper copy, for reference. Very interesting.

I bought a sewing book, and I need it start its lessons, and do the lessons in sew u. I might need to get sew u stretch.

Next up to read is the book on space evolution. And a book on writing.
I need to write a play this year.

This time is different

I have just begun the book This Time is Different, 8 centuries of financial folly.

It's a library book and due in 16 days, and there are 16 chapters, I will try to do at least one chapter a day.

It's boringly what will be my lessons for the next two weeks. Sorry.

The premise is this is really not new.

In the end, I will have a better understanding of all of the factors.

As I listen to the introduction I'm getting a little excited.

Such a geek.

Ok, I know I can't technically say I've learned nothing in the last few days, but I've not.... Spent any time with the things I've been meaning to learn.

Just thought I would fess up.

Does listening to/reading nonfiction books count as a lesson?

So, I'm going to add learn to write a novel and complete sew u to the list and subtract "think again" I never got into the web course,

I've been listening to Neil degrasse Tyson's book death by black hole, not many concepts are new, except perhaps the molecular chemistry of the universe. It's mostly essays. Interesting though.

I have a library audio book to download of This time is different, 8 centuries of financial crises. Or some such title.

More things I want

I have neglected my lessons, and all I have accomplished was to think of more things I wanted to learn.

Things I'm adding to my list:

I want to take the info comm classes for audio visual technicians, part of me is afraid it will be too hard for me, which is me being silly.

I would like to read more labor books, there is a labor book group, which is interesting but I don't like the pressure of book groups, because sometimes I just can't read it. Or I get busy... I just found out that this group is run by a woman I know, and maybe I'll ask her more about it. But I am interested in the politics and economics of labor.

I want to take a pottery class, because the pottery studio is right freaking down the street, but it's pricey, not that I don't blow that sort of money on shoes.

But I did take a class on writing grievances, which was very timely, since I wrote one tonight. I plan to catch up on the video class on Sunday, I'm half way through the first week and we are about to start week three. So not so bad, and that is the only one on some sort time schedule, especially since I bought the knitting book.

I'll try to update on Sunday evening.
